Yes. As a licensed neurologist and psychiatrist, Dr. Cabral and BrainLove can prescribe medications when appropriate and will assist with prior authorizations if needed. These include:

  • Alzheimer’s treatments
    • Symptomatic medications (e.g. donepezil, memantine)
    • Precision medicine (e.g. anti-amyloid monoclonal antibodies – lecanemab, donanemab)
  • Psychiatric medications

We also review and optimize your current medications as well as ensure a good medication management system is in place.

We can order lab work, imaging, and specialty testing, including advanced brain scans, lumbar punctures for cerebrospinal fluid testing, and genetic testing. You can use your health insurance for laboratory, radiology, referrals, and prescriptions.

Specific testing is not required before your BrainLove initial evaluation. However, for patients with cognitive concerns, completing these tests before your initial evaluation would help make your visit as productive as possible:

1.) Brief cognitive assessment such as MMSE, MoCA, SLUMS, etc..

2.) Labwork: CBC, CMP, TSH, B12

3.) Structural brain imaging with MRI brain (Note: Contrast is not typically required though may be helpful in certain clinical situations.)

  • No. BrainLove is a Direct Specialty Care practice and does not contract with insurance companies or Medicare. This allows us to provide longer, more personalized care without third-party restrictions.
  • We can provide itemized statements upon request for you to submit to your insurance for consideration of out of network coverage.

Direct Specialty Care is a model where you pay your doctor directly—without involving insurance. This allows for longer visits, easier access, transparent pricing, and care that’s focused entirely on you.

Direct Specialty Care is ideal if you want:

  • More time with your specialist
  • Personalized care for Alzheimer’s and related diseases or brain aging concerns
  • Clarity on costs without surprise bills
  • A proactive, holistic plan for brain health

No. Because BrainLove is a Direct Specialty Care practice and does not bill insurance, there are no co-pays, surprise bills, or deductibles. Upon request by those with private insurance only, we can provide a medical invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential reimbursement through your out of network coverage, if applicable.  For those with Medicare or any other state/federal insurance, a medical invoice is not provided as per the Medicare private contract.

We understand that things come up. We ask for at least 48 hours’ notice for cancellations or rescheduling to avoid a cancellation fee. Details are in your welcome packet.
